Dan Pfeiffer

Dan Pfeiffer is an activist, podcaster, author, and former Senior Advisor to President Barack Obama, focusing on communications, politics, and digital strategy. He began his political career working for the Clinton administration and has since served in various roles for Democratic senators and the Democratic Governors Association.

One of the President’s longest-serving advisers, Pfeiffer joined the Obama campaign at the outset, serving first as traveling press secretary and then eventually becoming the campaign’s communications director. He entered the White House as Deputy Communications Director and, by the end of 2009, had risen to Communications Director. He held that post until his appointment as Senior Advisor in 2013, a role he served in until 2015. During his time at the White House, Pfeiffer helped transition the communications apparatus into the digital age utilizing social media like Twitter, Facebook, Medium, and Instagram, as well as scheduling the first presidential interviews with digital media platforms like Buzzfeed and Vox.

Pfeiffer has previously worked for a number of Democratic politicians including Vice President Al Gore and Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle. After leaving the White House in 2015, he served as the Vice President of Communications and Policy for GoFundMe. He later joined CNN as a political contributor in 2015, providing political analysis and commentary. He serves on the Board of Advisors of Let America Vote, a voting rights organization.

In 2017, Pfeiffer co-launched a political podcast, "Pod Save America," alongside Jon Favreau, Jon Lovett, and Tommy Vietor, where they discuss politics and weekly news updates. As an author, he has penned three books, including a No. 1 New York Times Best Seller.
