Dan Stevens

Dan Stevens is an English actor who began his professional acting career in 2004, earning his first commendation at the 2004 Ian Charleson Awards. Stevens' career gained momentum when he starred in the BBC adaptation of Alan Hollinghurst's Man Booker Prize-winning novel, "The Line of Beauty" in 2006. However, it was his portrayal of Matthew Crawley in the ITV series "Downton Abbey" from 2010 to 2012 that catapulted him to international fame, earning him a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series in 2013.

Stevens' career spans a variety of genres, from independent films such as "The Guest" to big-budget productions like Disney's live-action adaptation of "Beauty and the Beast". Stevens made his Broadway debut in "The Heiress" opposite Jessica Chastain and David Strathairn in 2012. Stevens also held the lead role of David Charles Haller in the FX series "Legion", appeared in the Netflix thriller film "Apostle", and co-starred in the drama film "Lucy in the Sky". In 2021, Stevens played a robot in the German language sci-fi romance "I'm Your Man," and in 2024 he starred in the horror comedy "Abigail" and "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire."

Apart from acting, Stevens has a rich portfolio of voice work, having narrated over 30 audiobooks, including "Casino Royale," "Wolf Hall," and "War Horse." Stevens' work in audiobooks earned him Audie nominations. Additionally, Stevens is the editor-at-large for The Junket, an online quarterly that he co-founded in 2011, and has been involved in literary magazines and cricket-related books. Stevens is also fluent in English, French, and German.
