Daniel Ek is a Swedish billionaire entrepreneur and technologist. Ek is best known as the co-founder and CEO of the music streaming service Spotify.
Ed established Spotify by partnering with the co-founder of Tradedoubler, Martin Lorentzon. He offered a unique value proposition to all music lovers around the world. So, by enabling the audience with free online music, Daniel eradicated the need of downloading music or buying costly music subscriptions. In 2008, Spotify was formally launched and it gained huge attention from investors and audience alike. Millions of subscribers post and listening to songs regularly. Spotify was a success from the jump, earning a $27 billion market value on the first day of trading.
Ek is a technologist who started his first company 1997 at the age of 14. Prior to Spotify, Daniel was the initial CTO of Stardoll, the fashion & entertainment community for tweens. He was also the CEO of Torrent, the worlds most popular BitTorrent client with more than 100 million downloads. Daniel has also founded Advertigo, the advertising company acquired by TradeDoubler, as well as been a part of the nordic auction company Tradera (acquired by Ebay).
