Daniel Kinzer

Daniel Kinzer is Director of the Luke Center for Public Service at Punahou School in Honolulu, Hawaii, and a National Geographic Grosvenor Teacher Fellow. Since graduating from Vanderbilt University with a degree in Psychology and Neuroscience, he has spent the past 15 years focused on nurturing a global network of explorers and changemakers and an educational system that can inspire and empower them. An avid traveler and adventurer from an early age, Daniel spent a decade living, working and learning in international schools, non-profits and social enterprises across more than 50 countries, and on all 7 continents. He is fascinated by the natural world, and particularly The Ocean, Wildlife and Wild Places and the intersections of these places and human culture and consciousness. In 2016, Daniel moved with his wife, Erin, and two children, Alaia and Koa, from Hangzhou, China to Hawaii - inspired by the Polynesian Voyaging Society (as well as other indigenous movements around the world); their traditional Polynesian wa'a, or voyaging canoes; and the story of Hokule'a and her worldwide voyage. These travels, and his new home in Hawai’i, provide the inspiration for his current vision of an educational paradigm that helps us discover and co-create a resilient, regenerative and sustainable future.
