Daniel Silva

Daniel Silva is an international bestselling author known for his espionage novels. He has been described as his generation's finest writer of international intrigue and one of the greatest American spy novelists ever. His compelling and passionate work captures the essence of modern spy narratives.

Silva's literary journey began with his electrifying debut, "The Unlikely Spy," in 1997, a novel set around the Allied invasion of France during World War II. His subsequent novels, "The Mark of the Assassin" and "The Marching Season," further established his reputation, introducing readers to memorable characters like CIA officer Michael Osbourne and international hit man Jean-Paul Delaroche. However, it was his fourth novel, "The Kill Artist," that introduced the art restorer and occasional Israeli secret agent Gabriel Allon, a character who would become central to Silva's later works. This character appears in twelve of Silva's novels, including "The English Assassin," "The Confessor," and others, each achieving significant success.

Before becoming a full-time writer, Silva had a notable career in journalism. Born in Michigan and raised in California, he initially pursued a master’s degree in international relations before joining United Press International to cover the 1984 Democratic National Convention. His journalism career led him to work in various locations, including as a Middle East correspondent during significant historical events. In 1987, he joined CNN, where he eventually became an Executive Producer for programs such as Crossfire and Reliable Sources.

In 1995, with the support of his wife Jamie Gangel, Silva began to focus on writing, which culminated in the publication of "The Unlikely Spy." Silva's books have now been translated into more than 25 languages and are enjoyed by readers worldwide. He continues to write, currently working on a new novel that promises to captivate his audience once again.
