Daniel Theis

Daniel Theis is a German professional basketball player who currently plays for the New Orleans Pelicans of the NBA. Before joining the Pelicans in 2024, Theis had stints with the Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls, Houston Rockets, Indiana Pacers, and the Los Angeles Clippers, reaching the NBA finals with the Celtics. His contributions on court have been acknowledged with multiple awards, including the Bundesliga Best Defender (2017), the BBL Most Effective Player (National) in 2016, and the BBL Best Young German Player in 2014.

In addition to his NBA career, Theis has a rich history of representing Germany in international competitions. He debuted with the senior Germany national team in 2014. He has since participated in multiple FIBA events, such as the EuroBasket 2017 and 2022, the 2019 FIBA World Cup, and the 2023 FIBA World Cup. His performances at these events have been instrumental, with him averaging 10.9 points and 6.3 rebounds per game at EuroBasket 2017 and delivering 8.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game to help Germany secure bronze at EuroBasket 2022.

One of Theis's most notable achievements was his pivotal role in helping Germany win their first world title at the 2023 FIBA World Cup, where he averaged 10.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game. He also represented Germany at the 2024 Summer Olympics, contributing to the men's basketball team's 4th-place finish.
