Danny Hurley

Currently the head coach of the UConn Huskies men's basketball team, Danny Hurley has set a historic mark in college basketball by leading the Huskies to back-to-back National Titles in 2023 and 2024. Upon his appointment as the 19th head coach, Hurley was instrumental in revitalizing UConn's competitive edge, transforming it into a powerhouse as evidenced by the improved winning percentages and numerous national accolades under his leadership. His coaching record boasts an impressive 316 wins to 174 losses.

Since taking the helm at UConn, Hurley's effective rebuilding strategies have led the program to multiple NCAA Tournament appearances, including consecutive titles. His remarkable coaching skills have not gone unnoticed; he was named the Naismith Coach of the Year, the Sporting News National Coach of the Year, the Atlantic 10 Conference Men's Basketball Coach of the Year in 2018, and the Big East Conference Men's Basketball Coach of the Year in 2024. Despite receiving enticing offers from other prestigious institutions like Kentucky and the Los Angeles Lakers, Hurley remained committed to UConn under a six-year contract.

Hurley's coaching career has seen him take charge of four struggling basketball programs—including St. Benedict’s Prep, Wagner College, the University of Rhode Island, and UConn—and transformed them into national contenders. His intense coaching style, often described as one of the biggest coaching personalities in college basketball, has been key in this transformation. Emphasizing maximizing personnel potential, teaching perseverance, and applying fundamental leadership principles, Hurley has not only brought significant improvements to each program but also developed players who have flourished in professional leagues.
