Dara Torres

Dara Torres, an accomplished former competitive swimmer, began her career by setting her first world record at only 15. This initial accomplishment marked the start of her five Olympic appearances, beginning with the 1984 Games in Los Angeles. Torres's Olympic career spanned 24 years, from 1984 to 2008, making her the first swimmer to represent the United States in five Olympic Games and the oldest swimmer to earn a place on the U.S. Olympic team at age 41.

Throughout her career, Torres won 12 Olympic medals (four gold, four silver, four bronze). This collection of medals makes her one of three women with the most Olympic women's swimming medals. Her passion for pushing boundaries led her to compete at both ends of the age spectrum, representing the US from age 15 to age 41. This unique journey ensures her place in history, with no other American athlete having achieved a 26-year tenure on the Olympic stage. Torres was inducted into the United States Olympic Committee’s Hall of Fame in 2019, alongside other notable athletes.

Apart from her remarkable career in swimming, Torres also pursued roles in modeling and broadcasting. She was the first elite swimmer to model swimwear in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue in 1994. She has also worked in television as a reporter and announcer for numerous networks and has hosted the golf show, The Clubhouse, on the Resort Sports Network.

Maintaining her involvement in the sporting world, Torres has served as a spokesperson for several companies, including Speedo, Toyota, and CaniBrands. She also appeared regularly on CBS Sports’" We Need To Talk," providing a women's perspective on sports. In addition to her media work, Torres joined CaniBrands, a CBD health and wellness company, as Chief Wellness and Lifestyle Officer in August 2019.

Amid her busy schedule, Torres manages to dedicate time to philanthropic work. She is involved with the American chapter of the foundation of Princess Charlene of Monaco and serves as Vice-President on the board of directors. The foundation focuses on drowning prevention, a cause close to Torres's heart. Furthermore, she is a veteran celebrity swimmer for Swim Across America, a charitable organization that raises funds for cancer research. To add to her varied portfolio, Torres is an author of two books: "Age is Just a Number: Achieve Your Dreams at Any Stage in Your Life" and "Gold Medal Fitness: A Revolutionary 5-Week Program."
