Darius Slay

Darius Slay, a professional football cornerback, began his career with the Detroit Lions, who selected him in the second round of the 2013 NFL draft. In 2020, he was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles, where he signed a three-year contract worth $50 million. In his career, Slay has been recognized for his high level of play, earning First-team All-Pro status in 2017 and being selected for the Pro Bowl six times. His career statistics, as of Week 13, 2024, include 602 total tackles, 28 interceptions, and 5 defensive touchdowns. Slay became a Super Bowl champion after the Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 in Super Bowl LIX.

Throughout his career, Slay has earned multiple NFC Defensive Player of the Week honors, including those recognizing his performances against the Bears in 2017 and the Cardinals in 2018. He was the first Lions player since 1983 to record seven interceptions in a season as a cornerback. His remarkable 2017 performance also included a career-high 26 pass deflections. Slay, showing his respect for basketball legend Kobe Bryant, chose to wear jersey number 24 during his tenure with the Eagles.

He holds the record for the 6th most fumble return yards in a single season in NFL history, and his three defensive touchdowns in a single season is the second most in Philadelphia Eagles franchise history.
