David Eisenhower

David Eisenhower, grandson of general and President Dwight D. Eisenhower, is an historian and the Director of the Institute for Public Service at the Annenberg School for Communication. He serves as a senior research fellow and is a fellow in the International Relations Department at the University of Pennsylvania. Additionally, Eisenhower is the Founding Director of the Institute for Public Service at the Annenberg School and co-directs the Foreign Policy Research Institute's Teaching Institute.

In February 2002, Eisenhower was named editor-in-chief of the Foreign Policy Research Institute's "ORBIS" journal, a position he held until becoming a former editor. He is known for his extensive lectures across the United States on the Presidency, foreign relations, and World War II. Eisenhower also moderates the PBS public affairs television program "The Whole Truth," contributing further to public discourse on critical global issues.

Eisenhower graduated from Amherst College in 1970 and served three years as a U.S. Naval Officer aboard the guided missile cruiser ALBANY. After his military service, he earned his Juris Doctor from the Law Center at George Washington University. From 1981 to 1987, he was a lecturer in political science at the University of Pennsylvania. As an author, Eisenhower wrote "Eisenhower at War: 1943-1945," a New York Times bestseller and Pulitzer Prize finalist in history, and co-authored "Going Home to Glory: A Memoir of Life with Dwight Eisenhower 1961-1969" with his wife, Julie Nixon Eisenhower. His literary contributions extend to numerous magazine articles and book reviews on politics and history.

Eisenhower has received eight honorary degrees and various accolades for his contributions to education and public service, including the Golden Slipper Award for community service in Philadelphia and the Eisenhower Medal from the Eisenhower Exchange Fellowships in 2018. In 2003, he was honored with the University of Pennsylvania's Provost’s Award for Excellence in Teaching, highlighting his impact as an educator. His leadership roles include serving on the Board of Advisers of the Nixon Center and the Board of Directors of the Eisenhower Foundation at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Library.
