David Magdael

As founder and president of David Magdael & Associates, David Magdael specializes in publicity and marketing of documentary and independent films. With over two decades of experience developing Oscar® campaigns to festival strategies to theatrical and broadcast press unit publicity, his company has emerged as an important entertainment communications firm boasting a client roster including numerous Academy Award-winning and -nominated documentaries, animated films, short films and festival standouts.

Magdael is one of the top media strategists in entertainment, a longtime member of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, and the co-director of the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival. He continues to mentor at the Sundance Institute Producers Lab, Global Media Makers, Film Independent, Berlinale EFM, European Film Market, IDFA, Women Make Movies and other media organizations, and serves on the board of Gamechanger Non-Profit. He is one of the founders of Asian Pacific Filmmakers Experience (APFE), creating events for AAPI filmmakers at Sundance, Tribeca, Toronto, LA Asian, SXSW and CAAM Film Festivals.

Taking a more active producing role in filmmaking, Magdael has also become involved with films including "Mr. Soul!", "76 Days," "Ashima," "Pier Kids," and Peabody Award winner "Like a Rolling Stone - The Life and Times of Ben Fong Torres."
