David Suzuki

Dr. David Suzuki has dedicated his career to enhancing public understanding and conservation of nature. He is best known as the host of the CBC science and natural history television series "The Nature of Things." Suzuki's efforts in environmental advocacy and education have been widely recognized. In 2020, he was honored with The Canadian Academy of Cinema and Television's Lifetime Achievement Award. The following year, in 2021, he received the BC Reconciliation Award from BC Achievement in partnership with the Lieutenant Governor of BC, acknowledging his significant contributions.

Suzuki is a Companion to the Order of Canada and has been awarded UNESCO's Kalinga Prize for science, the 2009 Right Livelihood Award, and UNEP’s Global 500. He holds the title of Professor Emeritus at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver and has been granted 31 honorary degrees from various institutions across Canada, the United States, and Australia. He has authored over 56 books, including 19 children's books, reflecting his commitment to science and environmental education.

Residing in Vancouver, B.C. with his family, Suzuki has adapted his approach to public engagements to minimize his environmental impact. He no longer travels by airplane for speaking engagements; he only considers in-person keynotes if they are local to Vancouver or within ground travel distance.
