Dennis Campbell

Dr. Dennis Campbell is an accomplished educational leader with more than 20 years of experience managing, leading, implementing, and evaluating programs and practice in a diversity of educational contexts. He is a passionate and goal-driven educator dedicated to transforming communities by building the capacity within schools and beyond to ensure that all learning environments inspire, nurture, and prepare every child to live her or his best life.

Dr. Campbell is the Head of Middle School at Norwood School in Maryland. Previously, he was the Head of School at Kingsbury Center in Washington, D.C. and Director of Middle School and High school at MUSE in the greater Los Angeles area. Prior to arriving at MUSE, he served as both a faculty member and the director of the Collaborative for Urban Education, Research, and Development in the School of Education, Teaching, and Health at American University. His work at American University included establishing interdisciplinary and community partnerships with the expressed objective to build collaborative capacity to address public education challenges related to policy and practice.

Dr. Campbell began his career in education as a teacher working with teen mothers and their preschoolers, and later taught elementary and middle school. In addition to his other experiences leading at the school level, he has an extensive background in educational research, policy and advocacy.

Dr. Campbell received his B.A. in early childhood education from Ryerson University, and an M.A. in child development from Tufts University. He completed a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Pennsylvania.
