Derek Muller

Dr. Derek Muller is the creator and director of "Veritasium," a YouTube channel dedicated to science with close to a billion views and eight million subscribers. He is also the Creative Director and CEO of Thought Works. Muller has been recognized with the Streamy award for Science or Education in 2017. His work extends to hosting award-winning documentaries including "Uranium: Twisting the Dragon's Tail," "Digits," and "Vitamania" for international networks. He has also served as a presenter on ABC TV’s "Catalyst" since 2011 and was a correspondent on Netflix’s "Bill Nye Saves the World."

Muller has hosted other significant projects such as the documentary "Uranium," exploring the role of radioactivity in human history, and "Question Everything" on Discovery International in 2016. His live appearances have included sharing the stage with figures like Neil deGrasse Tyson and Michio Kaku, and co-hosting the 2017 March for Science in Washington D.C.

In addition to his media presence, Muller has made contributions to educational tools, including initiating the "Snatoms" project, a magnetic molecule making kit that rapidly surpassed its funding goals. He holds a B.Sc. in Engineering Physics from Queen’s University and a PhD in Physics Education Research from the University of Sydney, where his research focused on designing effective multimedia for physics education. His academic work has been published in international science education journals, and he continues to share his insights at education conferences globally.
