Destin Daniel Cretton

Destin Daniel Cretton is a filmmaker who made his mark in the film industry with his feature directorial debut, "I Am Not a Hipster," which was showcased at the Sundance Film Festival in 2012. Cretton's journey didn't stop there, as his feature-length screenplay was awarded one of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' five Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting in 2010. His other works, such as "Short Term 12," "The Glass Castle," and "The Shack," further established his directorial prowess. He also served as an executive producer on the short films "Same Old" and "Closing Dynasty."

Cretton's contributions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been significant. He directed the 2021 film, "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings," and is developing a sequel and a new Disney+ MCU series. Moreover, he has signed a comprehensive deal with Marvel Studios and Hulu's Onyx Collective. He was also assigned to direct "Avengers: The Kang Dynasty," although he later left this role.

His involvement in television isn't limited to Marvel. Cretton contributed to the creation of the series "Wonder Man" and directed two episodes of "American-Born Chinese." He is set to direct the TV series "Tokyo Vice" and is engaged in the development of the television drama series "Minors," which delves into the experiences of young people in the foster care system.

Cretton graduated from San Diego State University with a bachelor's degree in film.
