Dexter Fletcher Biography
Dexter Fletcher is an English actor and director known for directing Rocketman, a 2019 biopic about the life and career of Elton John. Some of his other well-known directing credits include Eddie the Eagle and Sunshine on Leith.
He replaced Bryan Singer as director of Bohemian Rhapsody, a biopic about the band Queen, released in October 2018. However, due to the Directors Guild of America rules, he received executive producer credit.
As an actor, Fletcher appeared in Guy Ritchie's Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and the 2016 crime comedy Smoking Guns, as well as in television shows such as the comedy-drama "Hotel Babylon," the HBO series "Band of Brothers" and, earlier in his career, the children's show "Press Gang." He also had a role in the film Bugsy Malone.
Fletcher was close to the late actor Alan Rickman, with Rickman even serving as best man at his 1997 wedding to Lithuanian film and theatre director Dalia Ibelhauptaitė.
