Dick Stockton

Dick Stockton, a national network sports television broadcaster, brings over four decades of experience to his role. He has covered a wide range of major sports events, including baseball's World Series, the NBA championship finals, and numerous NCAA basketball tournament games. Stockton has been a crucial voice in sports broadcasting, known for his coverage of significant moments like Dan Jansen's Gold Medal win in speed-skating at the Winter Olympic Games in Norway in 1994.

In his extensive career, Stockton started freelancing for CBS Sports in the late 1960s and joined CBS full-time in 1978. His tenure at CBS until 1994 included coverage of NFL regular season and playoffs, NCAA basketball, World Swimming and Diving Championships, championship boxing, track and field, and the Olympic Games. He was also the lead announcer for the NBA on CBS from 1982 to 1990, during which he covered memorable Lakers-Celtics NBA Finals. Beyond NFL, Stockton's expertise extends to Major League Baseball, where he covered the sport from 1990 to 1992, including three American League Championship Series.

Transitioning to Fox Sports in 1994, Stockton continued to deliver NFL and Major League Baseball telecasts until at least 2007. His remarkable broadcasting skills were recognized in 2001 when he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Additionally, from 2001 through 2008, he called the Super Bowl for the NFL to an international audience in over 230 countries. Stockton has consistently been acknowledged as one of the top 50 network sportscasters of all time, proving his longstanding impact on sports broadcasting.

Stockton's early broadcasting experience also included calling play-by-play for Red Sox baseball from 1975 through 1978 at WSBK-TV in Boston, where he famously called Carlton Fisk’s legendary 12th-inning home run in the sixth game of the 1975 World Series. After his time with CBS, he called Oakland A's games for KRON-TV in San Francisco from 1995 to 1998. A graduate of Syracuse University in 1964 with a degree in speech dramatic arts and journalism, Stockton's profound legacy in sports broadcasting continues to resonate with audiences around the world.
