Dominique Blake

She is one of the hottest female stars in track and field in the Caribbean. Born in Mount Vernon, New York, on February 15, 1987, to Vivian and Valerie Blake, Dominique Blake was raised in Kingston, Jamaica, where she received her fundamentals in academics and athletics. She attended St. Peter & Paul Preparatory School and Hillel Academy, both located in Kingston. Throughout her childhood in Jamaica, Dominique was very athletic and always had a love for sport—most of all, running.

She took that passion for sport and made it her focus, from adolescence and into adulthood. Migrating from Jamaica to the States in 1999, Dominique attended high school in the Bronx, New York. At age 13, she became an all-star athlete in track and field. Her coach, Maritza Osorio, immediately realized the youngster's talent and began grooming her to become the best in the nation. Dominique was recruited by every top, Division I university in the country. She earned a full scholarship to Penn State University, where she was also a standout athlete and became an all American, multiple conference champion, national champion, and Penn State record holder.

Dominique won her first gold medal for her home country of Jamaica in 2010, competing at the Central American and Caribbean Games. She continued receiving encouragement from family and her coach to be the very best at whatever she did. Whether it was sports or academics, it was of paramount importance that Dominique was giving her very best effort and also enjoying what she was giving that effort to.

Her father is none other than Vivian Blake, the "BET American Gangster" who is a well know public figure, not only in Jamaica, but throughout the world. He managed to aid and support underprivileged communities in Kingston, Jamaica, while providing a lavish lifestyle for his family. Vivian Blake is and was loved by many and disliked by some. He had an undying hunger for success. His pledge to his community will never be forgotten and will always be celebrated by his loved ones. Dominique’s father played a major role in her upbringing and his influence helped form the woman she is today. A man of principle, prestige, heart, and love for his family, he preached the importance of success and determination to his daughter and instilled in her the values that lead to her successes. Dominique’s father made sure she was the happiest daughter in the world and, in doing so, he shaped the strong minded, independent woman we know today as one of Jamaica's brightest talents.

Dominique’s positive energy and optimism has brought her incomparable success, including bringing home a bronze medal for Jamaica in the 2012 London Olympic Games. In addition to her amazing athletic physique, Dominique’s golden locks are her trademark, making her standout from all the rest.

She is a true testament to overcoming adversity, including her family’s legacy and the current, controversial doping case instituted by the Jamaican Federation against Dominique. Some speculate the Jamaican Federation’s scrutiny is due to her family's name and the political bias that often comes along with that notoriety. Regardless, Dominique has made it her goal in life to be successful at whatever she does—not only for herself, but for her family as well. Any career field she decides to embark on, being the best is always in the forefront of her mind. The goal is to always be successful and to make her parents, friends, and fans proud.

In addition to her Track & Field career, Dominique is currently balancing a myriad of endeavors including philanthropy, motivational public speaking, fitness modeling, and developing her craft as a health and wellness coach.
