Doug Cutting Biography
Doug Cutting is the Chief Architect at Cloudera and the Founder of numerous successful open source projects, including Lucene, Nutch, Avro, and Hadoop.
Doug joined Cloudera from Yahoo, where he was a key member of the team that built and deployed a production Hadoop storage-and-analysis cluster for mission-critical business analytics.
Previously, Cutting held search technology positions at Xerox PARC where he worked on the Scatter/Gather algorithm and on computational stylistics. He also worked at Excite, where he was one of the chief designers of the search engine, and Apple Inc., where he was the primary author of the V-Twin text search framework.
Doug holds a bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and sits on the board of the Apache Software Foundation.
