Dr. Andrew Lankford
Dr. Andrew Lankford Biography
Dr. Lankford is Professor of Physics and Astronomy at the University of California, Irvine. His research program seeks to understand nature at the level of elementary particles and their interactions, and is now focused on searches for new fundamental particles and phenomena at the highest available laboratory energies.
He is presently Deputy Spokesperson (Deputy Director) of the international ATLAS Collaboration, which is conducting a large experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN, the European laboratory for particle physics research. He has published more than 600 journal articles, he is Fellow of the American Physical Society, and he regularly serves on laboratory and national advisory panels concerning the fields of particle physics, nuclear physics, and cosmology.
His degrees are in mathematics and physics from Yale University. He previously held positions at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. He presently holds a concurrent appointment at CERN.
