Dr. David Rhew

Dr. David Rhew is an Adjunct Professor at Stanford University and the Global Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and Vice President of Healthcare for Microsoft's Worldwide Commercial Business. At Microsoft, he leads a team whose goal is to demonstrate how a large-scale data-driven approach will lead to smarter decision-making, more proactive care, and improved health outcomes and lower costs for patients and populations.

Dr. Rhew served as Microsoft’s International Coordinator for the Pandemic Response where he worked with the World Health Organization to develop their World Health Data Hub, the Center for Disease Control to standup their vaccine data lake, and U.S. states to roll-out COVID-19 vaccines. He holds six U.S. technology patents that enable authoring, mapping, and integration of clinical decision support into electronic health records and has been recognized as one of the 50 most influential clinician executives by Modern Healthcare.

Dr. Rhew earned his Bachelor of Science degrees in computer science and cellular molecular biology from the University of Michigan. He received his medical degree from Northwestern University and completed internal medicine residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He completed fellowships in health services research at Cedars-Sinai and infectious diseases at the University of California, Los Angeles.

Previously, Dr. Rhew was CMO, Vice President and General Manager of Enterprise Healthcare for Samsung Electronics America and Senior Vice President and CMO at Zynx Health Incorporated. He has served on the National Quality Forum’s Executive Committee for Consensus Standards and Approval and chaired the Consumer Technology Association’s Health Technology Board. He sits on AdvaMed’s Digital Health Board and the Governing Committee for NESTcc, the medical device advisory group for the FDA, CMS, and NIH.
