Dr. Herminia Ibarra

Dr. Herminia Ibarra is the Charles Handy Professor of Organizational Behavior at London Business School and a well-known scholar in the fields of organizational behavior, leadership, and career development. Prior to joining LBS, she served on the INSEAD and Harvard Business School faculties, and she continues to make significant contributions to academia and the business world.

An authority on leadership and career development, Thinkers 50 ranks Ibarra among the top management thinkers in the world. She is a member of the World Economic Forum’s Expert Network and the London Business School Governing Body. She has achieved numerous awards and honors, including being named one of the 100 most influential people in gender policy by Apolitica, being elected Fellow of the British Academy in 2019, and being the recipient of the Academy of Management’s Scholar-Practitioner Award in 2018 for her research’s contribution to management practice.

Ibarra is also a renowned author and a bestselling case writer. She has authored two best-selling books, "Act Like a Leader," "Think Like a Leader," and "Working Identity: Unconventional Strategies for Reinventing Your Career." In addition to these, she has written notable publications in the areas of career development, leadership, and women's advancement. Her most recent article, "The Leader as Coach," won the 2019 Warren Bennis Prize for the best leadership article in the Harvard Business Review. Ibarra writes regularly in leading academic journals and business publications, including the Harvard Business Review, Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, and New York Times, and speaks internationally on leadership and organizational transformation.

Over the years, Ibarra has created and directed several executive programs on leadership and women leading change. She has also appeared as a speaker at various public events and conferences, sharing her vast knowledge and experiences.

A native of Cuba, Ibarra received her M.A. and Ph.D. from Yale University, where she was a National Science Fellow. Her achievements and contributions have been recognized globally, making her a profound influencer in her field.
