Dr. Jill Stein Biography
Dr. Jill Stein is a physician, activist, and former political candidate. She was the Green Party's nominee for President of the United States in the 2012 and 2016 elections and has been nominated once again for the 2024 United States presidential election. In addition to her presidential bids, she was also the Green-Rainbow Party's candidate for governor of Massachusetts in 2002 and 2010.
Dr. Stein consistently campaigns on the theme of a Green New Deal, which includes a number of reforms to address climate change and income inequality, as well as civil and political rights reform. These policies also feature strong worker rights and an eco-socialist "real Green New Deal." During her 2024 presidential campaign, she also advocates for an "Economic Bill of Rights," which includes rights to a living wage, housing, healthcare, and other essentials.
Stein's running mate for the 2024 election is Butch Ware. Stein was a member of the Lexington Town Meeting from 2005 to 2010, and she has a history of environmental activism, notably protesting against the "Filthy Five" coal plants in Massachusetts to improve air quality standards. In 2023, prior to her 2024 presidential bid, it was announced that Stein would help run Cornel West's Green Party campaign for president.
