She has a strong background in media, having hosted "The Pet Show with Dr. Katy" on Washington DC's WJLA ABC 24/7 news channel for a span of 8 years. Additionally, she has served as the animal health expert for WTOP News, known as “Dr Pawz.”
Nelson's expertise in veterinary science has been sought after by national television shows such as the TODAY Show, Fox & Friends, and "Unlikely Animal Friends" on NatGeo Wild. Further showcasing her skills as a writer and communicator, she has contributed to publications like Family Circle Magazine, Good Housekeeping, and Better Homes & Gardens.
