Dr. Ken Fujioka Biography
Dr. Ken Fujioka is a nationally recognized physician who specializes in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism. He is the director of Nutrition and Metabolic Research at the Scripps Clinic in San Diego, CA. His clinical expertise centers on weight management, nutrition and metabolic disorders. Dr. Fujioka's philosophy of care involves treating weight problems (both weight gain and weight loss) with a complete team approach, engaging other medical professionals to determine the treatment most likely to produce optimal results.
Dr. Fujioka has authored over 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals (including NEJM, The Lancet, JAMA, DOM, and Obesity) on weight management, and related comorbid diseases. He has participated as a principal investigator (PI) on over 100 clinical trials, and sub-PI on numerous NIH-sponsored grants. In 1997, Dr. Fujioka authored a comprehensive standard of care for the California State Medical board on obesity treatment, and has lectured to numerous political groups across the country on various obesity treatments.
He enjoys teaching other health care providers and clinicians about all aspects of obesity medicine, and is certified by the American Board of Obesity Medicine.
