In Siemens’ Corporate Technology, Stefan Niessen is in charge of the technology field Energy Systems. This technology field covers holistic analysis and main elements of any energy system:components coupling electricity-heat-cooling-water with the respective storage technologies, power-to-X, sustainability analysis and functional design, grid components and topologies, fluid-dynamic efficiency and control for rail transport.
Stefan has 22 years of professional experience in energy technology and energy economics. For AREVA GmbH, he has been heading their corporate research and development, innovation- and patent management for five years and their international marketing for another five years. Before, during six years he was part of the core team that set-up what is today Continental Europe’s largest energy exchange EEX. Stefan holds a PhD from the faculty for electrical engineering from RWTH-Aachen and a general management MBA from Duke.
