Eddie Redmayne

Eddie Redmayne is an actor who won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance as physicist Stephen Hawking in "The Theory of Everything." Raised in a creative family, Redmayne attended the prestigious Eton College and later studied History of Art at Trinity College, Cambridge. His early exposure to the arts led him to stage and screen acting.

Throughout his career, Redmayne has demonstrated his versatility with performances in both theater and film. He first gained recognition for his stage work, notably in "The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia?" and "Red," for which he won a Tony Award in 2010. He later reprised his role in "Red" on Broadway, earning him a second Tony Award. He also starred as The Emcee in a West End revival of "Cabaret" in 2022, for which he received a Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical. He returned to Broadway in 2024 in a transfer of "Cabaret," earning a Tony Award nomination for Best Actor in a Musical.

Redmayne's film career includes standout roles in "My Week with Marilyn" and "Les Misérables," showcasing his ability to embody deeply emotional and complex characters. He received a BAFTA Award and multiple Oscar nominations for his roles in "The Theory of Everything" and "The Danish Girl." Additionally, he has achieved success in fantastical roles, notably his portrayal of Newt Scamander in the "Fantastic Beasts" film series, extending from 2016 to 2022. He has also portrayed characters in other critically acclaimed films like "The Trial of the Chicago 7," "The Good Nurse," and the television series "The Day of the Jackal," which earned him a Golden Globe nomination.

Outside his acting career, Redmayne contributes to various charitable causes, including the Motor Neurone Disease Association, and efforts to promote gender equality. He also serves as an ambassador for a film education charity and the Teenage Cancer Trust and is involved with Mousetrap Theatre Projects.
