El Debarge Biography
El DeBarge is an singer, songwriter, and producer best known as the lead vocalist of the family R&B group DeBarge. Born in Detroit, Michigan, he emerged in the early 1980s as one of the most distinctive voices in R&B, celebrated for his silky falsetto and smooth stage presence. As the group’s frontman, he led a string of hits including “Rhythm of the Night,” “Time Will Reveal,” and “All This Love,” helping define the sound of the decade. After the group disbanded, Debarge launched a successful solo career, scoring a major hit with “Who’s Johnny” in 1986 and earning praise for his songwriting and vocal versatility. Though his career faced setbacks due to personal and legal struggles, he staged a comeback in the 2010s with the release of the critically acclaimed album Second Chance. His enduring influence can be heard in the work of many modern R&B and pop artists.
