Elayne Boosler

Elayne Boosler is a comedian, writer, and animal activist, known for her blend of political humor, baseball enthusiasm, and advocacy for animals. Over her 40-year career, Boosler has had numerous appearances on various talk shows, produced and written five one-hour comedy specials for Showtime such as "Party of One," "Broadway Baby," "Top Tomata," and "Live Nude Girls," and written and directed two movies for Cinemax. She has been a regular on Politically Incorrect, hosted specials, series, and events, and done baseball color commentary.

In 1985, Boosler pioneered in comedy when she self-financed her own comedy special, “Party of One,” which led to cable networks allowing female comedians to have specials. Besides her work in comedy, Boosler has been involved in radio, hosting the game show Balderdash on NBC in 2005-2006, and moderating the Democratic Presidential Candidates Debate on C-Span for NOW. Her contributions to comedy have not gone unnoticed, with Rolling Stone recognizing her as one of the "50 Best Stand-Up Comics of All Time" in 2017 and CNN including her in their list of "Groundbreaking women in American comedy" in 2018.

In the world of performing arts, Boosler's work extends beyond standup. She has performed everywhere, from Las Vegas to the London Palladium, and from the White House Press Correspondent’s Dinner for President Clinton to clubs and theaters worldwide. Additionally, she has narrated a musical performance titled "Rescue – A True Story" with the Glendale Philharmonic Orchestra in 2013.

Boosler's commitment to animal advocacy began in 1996 and culminated in her founding the non-profit organization Tails of Joy in 2001. Since then, Tails of Joy has saved thousands of animals, improved the lives of many more, and continues to advocate for better treatment of all animals worldwide.

Boosler's current projects include writing books titled "Big Fun" and "Elayne Boosler’s Tails of Joy."
