Elle Currano is a paleontologist and professor in the Department of Geology and Geophysics at the University of Wyoming. Currano's research uses fossil plants to investigate the response of ancient forest ecosystems to environmental perturbations. She is also an advocate for women in the workplace, particularly in the field of science.
In 2014, Currano created the Bearded Lady Project: Challenging the Face of Science, along with Lexi Jamieson Marsh and photographer Kelsey Vance. They made a documentary about women working in the male-dominated field of paleontology and released it alongside an exhibit of portraits of women wearing beards.
