Emilio Ocampo

Emilio Ocampo is a professor of Finance and Economic History, Director of the Center for the Study of Economic History and member of the Academic Committee of the Master's in Finance at UCEMA. He is a member of the Academic Council of the Fundación Libertad y Progreso in Buenos Aires. He has given seminars on Argentine history and economics in the Diploma of Argentine Culture at ESEADE, the Austral University and CUDES. Between 2016 and 2019 he was a Senior Associate at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington DC In 2013 and 2014 he was a professor at the Stern School of Business at New York University.

Between 1990 and 2005, he worked in investment banking, holding executive roles at Chase Manhattan, Salomon Brothers, Citigroup and Morgan Stanley in New York and London. In 2006 he returned to Argentina and developed an intense activity as an independent financial advisor.

Professor Ocampo's has a vast experience in emerging markets finance in senior positions at top ranked Wall Street firms. He started his career in New York at JP Morgan Chase's international capital markets group in 1989, where he worked on corporate bond issues in Latin America and Southeast Asia. In 1994 he joined Salomon Brothers's investment banking department and led a team that completed some of the most challenging and innovative M&A, privatization and capital raising transactions in Latin America. In 2000 he was hired by Morgan Stanley's London based investment banking team to focus on media clients in Europe. He also worked as senior advisor to the London office of Citigroup Venture Capital and as an independent consultant to companies and investors with interests in Latin America.

Professor Ocampo received a graduate degree in Economics from Universidad de Buenos Aires (Argentina) and MBA from the University of Chicago. Since 2006 he has been adjunct professor in the finance department at Universidad CEMA (Argentina).
