Emma Stewart

Emma Stewart brings a rare combination of domain expertise (environmental strategy, climate change accounting and policy, green buildings), strategy (start-up executive and corporate "intrapreneur"), and inventiveness to the field of corporate sustainability.

Selected as a Fellow by The Aspen Institute, her work has been cited in The Economist, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, the International Herald Tribune, FORTUNE, Thomson Reuters, The Guardian, Quartz, CNBC, CNN, The LA Times, The Economic Times, The Chicago Tribune, Business Insider, Forbes, Philadelphia Inquirer, Fast Company, The Wall Street Journal, Harvard Business Review, among others.

Stewart was declared a "Badass Woman in Sustainability" by GreenBiz, rated a "top 3 speaker" by The Economist Summits in 2015, “one of the most powerful women under 45” and an “urban pioneer” by FORTUNE Magazine, a “sustainability insurgent” by MIT Sloan Management Review, and one of the “Top 10 Women in Sustainability” by American Builders.

She was an architect of the first tools for setting "Science-Based Climate Targets", which have now been adopted by 900+ companies. She founded the first Sustainability Solutions product group at Autodesk, the design software giant, established and ran the R&D Division at BSR, which serves 300+ Fortune1000 companies, and invented the course "Intrapreneurship for Sustainability", which she taught at UC Berkeley and Stanford University's business schools.

Stewart holds a PhD from Stanford University, a Bachelor's from Oxford University, and is a LEED Accredited Professional (Real Estate).
