Eric Greenspan, acclaimed chef and author, embarked on his culinary journey after graduating from UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. His pursuit of gastronomic mastery led him to Paris, where he honed his skills at Le Cordon Bleu culinary school and trained under the tutelage of renowned chefs Alain Ducasse, David Bouley, and Rocco DeSpirito. After his European sojourn, Greenspan returned to America to helm the kitchen at Los Angeles' Patina, earning extensive praise and recognition as one of Angeleno Magazine's "Eight Hot Chefs" in 2003.
In 2007, Greenspan continued to leave his mark in the culinary world by opening The Foundry on Melrose, which received numerous accolades and was runner-up for Los Angeles Magazine's "Best New Restaurant." More recent restaurants of Greenspan include Fleishik's Sandwiches, Nosh, and Whiskey. Greenspan has also consulted across many facets of the food industry, including concept development, product development, and strategic marketing.
Starting in 2011, Greenspan has hosted, judged, competed, or appeared on countless TV shows, including on Food Network, A&E, National Geographic, NBC, Fox, Travel Channel, FYI, Tasted, Tastemade, Facebook Watch, and many others. He hosted the A&E home improvement show “Fix this Kitchen,” and in 2015, he had his own series, “Eric Greenspan Is Hungry,” on National Geographic. His victory over Bobby Flay on "Iron Chef America" and his recurring role as a judge on Food Network's "Guy's Grocery Games" and "Guy's Ranch Kitchen" demonstrate his culinary prowess and discerning palate. He is also the author of two cookbooks: "The Great Grilled Cheese Book: Grown-Up Recipes for a Childhood Classic" and "Cook Up Comfort with Eric Greenspan."
Always one to embrace innovation, Greenspan ventured into the burgeoning Ghost Kitchen/Virtual Restaurant sector with the 2017 launch of Alt/Grub/Faction, a delivery-only "virtual" kitchen operation and concept incubator. His pioneering work in this space led to his inclusion in the 2020 National Restaurant News Power List. In 2022, Greenspan co-founded New School American Cheese, a premium American Cheese brand. His achievements and culinary philosophy have been featured in notable publications such as The New York Times, Wine Spectator, and Los Angeles Magazine.
