Eric Smith

Eric Smith is Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for USAA. Prior to his CTO role, Eric held various leadership roles in Architecture and the Member Contact Applications group, a team focused on providing a best in class USAA member and employee contact application infrastructure. Eric has been a member of the USAA team since July of 2006, when he joined the CTO organization as a Technical Architect with responsibility for the IT Service Management Domain.

Prior to joining USAA, Eric was a Director of Client Services for Maryville Technologies, a Service Management and Infrastructure consulting entity. Eric was responsible for managing the technical consultants providing support to Maryville's clients in addition to overseeing strategic client relationships.

Throughout his consulting career, Eric has had the opportunity to manage relationships and key enterprise technical initiatives with several Fortune 500 companies to include Sprint PCS, Sysco Corporation, Southwest Airlines, and Texas Instruments. Additionally, Eric has held technical and managerial roles within the Federal Government, Healthcare, and Telecommunications industries. Eric has also had the honor of serving in the Army, beginning his military service as an enlisted soldier in the Infantry, and later receiving a commission as a Field Artillery officer. Eric graduated from the University of Kansas with degrees in Economics and Psychology.
