Evan Adams

Dr. Evan Tlesla Adams is a multifaceted individual with an extensive career across the fields of acting and public health. He is currently a Harkness Fellow at the Harkness Foundation in Honolulu, Hawaii. Adams was the former Chief Medical Officer of the First Nations Health Authority in British Columbia.

He gained recognition in the realm of acting, featuring in films such as "Smoke Signals" and "The Business of Fancydancing," which earned him an Independent Spirit Award for Best Debut Performance. Beyond the big screen, Dr. Adams made his mark on television as well, appearing on shows like "The Beachcombers," "Da Vinci's Inquest," and "The L Word." His creative talent extends to writing, with his theatrical works being produced across Canada and internationally.

Adams has made significant contributions to the field of medicine, particularly with public health concerns of First Nations communities. After earning a medical degree from the University of Calgary and a Master's of Public Health from Johns Hopkins University, he embarked on a journey to improve public health within Indigenous populations. His work primarily focused on HIV/AIDS education and the treatment of alcohol and drug abuse. Dr. Adams' continued dedication to public health saw him serving as the Deputy Provincial Health Officer with the British Columbia Ministry of Health.
