Folake Olowofoyeku

Nigerian-born actress Folake Olowofoyeku stars in the CBS comedy "Bob Hearts Abishola," a show that explores immigrant life in America through the narrative of a middle-aged Detroit sock salesman who falls for his Nigerian cardiac nurse after suffering a heart attack. The series, a creation of Chuck Lorre, blends humor with cultural commentary, earning high ratings and critical acclaim for its nuanced portrayal of the immigrant experience.

In addition to her lead role in "Bob Hearts Abishola," for which she received the 2019 Breakout Actress in TV Award from Sync Con Honors, Olowofoyeku was also nominated for a NAACP Image Award in 2021 for her performance. Her television work extends to recurring and guest roles in series such as "Transparent," "The Gifted," "Modern Family," "How to Get Away with Murder," "Westworld," and various installments of the "Law & Order" series.

Olowofoyeku's involvement in the film industry is marked by notable performances in "When They Could Fly," earning her a Best Actress award at the ReelHeART International Film Festival, and "Central & Broadway," which brought her a Best Actress in a Fashion Film award at the CinéFashion Film Awards. Other film credits include "Female Fight Club," "The Bride," "The Child Within," and "Hellbenders-3D." As a voice actor, she portrayed the Priestess in the video game "Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series – Episode 1." Her musical talents are showcased in her 2019 single "Happy, Happy (Money Dun Come)," released under the moniker ‘Fọlákẹ́’, and she also plays guitar and piano, in addition to enjoying DJing.

Raised in Lagos, Nigeria, and having spent time in London, Olowofoyeku moved to New York City where she studied theater at City College of New York, earning a B.A. with honors. She also holds a diploma in Audio Engineering from The Institute of Audio Research (IAR). Olowofoyeku's early defiance of her family’s traditional career expectations led her to a successful career in acting, a path she pursued with determination and passion.
