Fran Horowitz Biography
Fran Horowitz is global apparel retailer Abercrombie & Fitch Co.’s Chief Executive Officer and serves as a director on the Board. She is also a member of the company's Executive Committee.
Horowitz came to the company -- which houses both Hollister and Abercrombie brands -- as Hollister CEO in 2014. After a successful turnaround there, she stepped into the role of parent company CEO in 2017. At the time, Abercrombie was suffering from sluggish sales, an out-of-touch image and a frayed internal culture. Horowitz focused on enhancing product quality, reducing retail store footprints, expanding size ranges, and reshaping the brand’s identity to be more inclusive and contemporary. The brand closed out 2023 with sales of $4.28 billion, the best operating income margin in 15 years, and the best stock performance in the S&P 1500 Index.
Horowitz serves on the boards of Conagra Brands, Inc., one of North America’s leading branded food companies. Additionally, she is a member of the Board of Directors of Chief Executives for Corporate Purpose, a CEO-led coalition that helps companies transform their social strategy by providing customized resources.
