Fred Kofman

Fred Kofman is an executive coach and advisor on leadership and culture, currently serving as the Vice President of Organizational Development at LinkedIn.

Fred holds a PhD in Economics with a specialization in advanced theory and industrial organization from the University of California, Berkeley. From 1990 to 1996, he was a distinguished professor of management information systems at MIT’s Sloan School of Management. There, he worked with Peter Senge, author of "The Fifth Discipline," as a senior researcher at the Center for Organizational Learning. Fred was named “Professor of the Year” at MIT in 1992. He also taught Management Accounting and Control Systems during his tenure at MIT.

Fred founded his global consulting company, Axialent, which has delivered leadership programs to more than 15,000 executives worldwide. He also co-founded the Conscious Business Center International, which offers online coaching training programs. Throughout his career, Fred has worked with numerous prestigious organizations including Google, Microsoft, Facebook, Citicorp, and Vodafone Australia.

In 2013, Fred became Vice President of executive development at LinkedIn where he directed the Conscious Business Academy program. Later, in 2018, he accepted a position at Google as Vice President advising the CEO's office on leadership and culture. That same year, Fred partnered with Tecnológico de Monterrey to create the Center of Conscious Leadership, delivering programs for executives and students.

Fred is the author of several books including the Metamanagement trilogy (2001), "Conscious Business" (2006), and "The Meaning Revolution: The Power of Transcendent Leadership" (2018). "Conscious Business" has been translated into more than ten languages and was recommended by Sheryl Sandberg in her New York Times interview as "the business book every executive should read." Fred’s academic articles have appeared in prestigious journals such as Econométrica and The Journal of Public Economics.

Fred continues to lead seminars and present his research internationally, demonstrating expertise in topics such as Communication Skills, Leadership, Motivation, Organizational Skills, Peak Performance, and Teambuilding. His diverse interests also include mountain climbing, skiing, gliding, sailing, freediving, spearfishing, and mindful meditation.
