Fred P. Hochberg

Fred P. Hochberg is the longest-serving chairman and president of the Export-Import Bank of the United States, holding the position throughout the Obama Administration. He transformed the Bank by increasing its export financing to support over $240 billion worth of exports and more than 1.4 million American jobs. Hochberg also effectively managed the bank during a significant operational halt caused by a Congress shutdown in 2015, before its charter was reauthorized. His strategic initiatives led to a record $3.8 billion in surplus revenue for U.S. taxpayers and a substantial reduction in internal costs by nearly 30%. During his tenure, the focus on customer service was heightened through faster transaction times and the introduction of new products, with nearly 90% of the Bank's authorizations directly supporting small businesses.

Before his impactful service at EXIM Bank, Hochberg served as the dean of Milano, The New School for Management and Urban Policy in New York from 2004 to 2008, where he enhanced the curriculum and established the Dean’s Alumni Council. He also held significant roles in the Small Business Administration from 1998 through 2001, initially as deputy and then as acting administrator, where he increased lending to minority- and woman-owned businesses. His early career was marked by his leadership at the Lillian Vernon Corporation, where as president and chief operating officer, he grew the family business from $5 million to $180 million in annual sales.

Hochberg is not only known for his administrative and business acumen but also for his commitment to public speaking and thought leadership on global economic issues.
