Gary Kovacs

Gary Kovacs is currently the Chief Executive Officer at Accela, where he directs the company's mission-driven growth, strategic direction, and long-term value for its stakeholders and customers worldwide.

With more than 25 years of enterprise software and mobile technology industry leadership and executive management experience, Kovacs has a robust background in the tech industry. Before his role at Accela, he was the CEO of AVG Technologies, a global leader in consumer and enterprise security software, and prior to that, he served as CEO of Mozilla Corporation. In his role at Mozilla, he was responsible for the overall direction of the organization and the development and delivery of the Firefox browser and cloud services that reached over 500 million users globally. Kovacs has also held significant leadership roles at several other high-profile companies, including IBM, where he spent 10 years in leadership positions within the global software division, Sybase (now part of SAP), Adobe (including time at Macromedia), and Zi Corporation, where he specialized in embedded software and services for mobile and consumer devices.

Kovacs is a seasoned public speaker known for his engaging keynote addresses at prominent forums such as TED, the World Economic Forum (Davos & Shenzhen), Mobile World Congress, and the Clinton Global Initiative. He also participates actively on the boards of various mission-driven technology companies and nonprofits, including Make-A-Wish and Runway Capital, and serves on advisory boards for DocuSign and the University of Calgary. Kovacs completed his education at the University of Calgary's Haskayne School of Business, earning a Masters in Business Administration and a Bachelors in Communications.
