George Hincapie Biography
George Hincapie is a retired American professional cyclist, best known for his role as a domestique for Lance Armstrong in all seven of Armstrong's Tour de France victories, as well as his own successful cycling career. Born on June 29, 1973, in Queens, New York, Hincapie grew up in a Colombian-American family with a deep passion for cycling, inspired by his father.
Hincapie’s professional career spanned nearly two decades, from 1994 to 2012. Throughout this period, he competed in 17 Tour de France races and numerous other major cycling events, including the Paris-Roubaix, which he came close to winning multiple times, earning podium finishes. He was highly regarded for his strength in the classics and his skills in leading out sprints, often working in support of other top riders while also claiming personal victories.
Since retiring, Hincapie has transitioned into a successful business career. He runs a sportswear company, Hincapie Sportswear, and operates a hotel, Hotel Domestique, in South Carolina. Hincapie also remains involved in the cycling world through his work as a team manager and cycling commentator, continuing to leave a lasting impact on the sport.
