George Lopez

George Lopez's diverse career spans television, film, stand-up comedy, and late-night television. Renowned for breaking barriers for Latino comics, Lopez celebrates his heritage, challenges racial stereotypes, and supports his community both on and off stage.

Lopez has been featured in four HBO specials, including "The Wall" and "Tall, Dark and Chicano," with the latter earning him a Grammy nomination for Best Comedy Album. His Showtime special "Why You Crying?" was met with acclaim, and he received additional Grammy nominations for "America's Mexican" and "Team Leader."

Lopez produced and starred in the semi-autobiographical sitcom "Lopez" on TV Land for two seasons, exploring his personal experiences. In 2014, he co-created and starred in "Saint George" for FX. He also hosted "Lopez Tonight" on TBS for two seasons, building on the success of the hit sitcom "George Lopez," which aired for six seasons on ABC. Currently, he stars alongside his daughter Mayan in the NBC comedy "Lopez vs Lopez," based on their real-life relationship.

Lopez's film roles include "Walking with Herb," "No Man’s Land," "The Tax Collector," "El Chicano," "Valentine's Day," "The Spy Next Door," and "The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl." He starred in and produced "Spare Parts," a true story about Mexican American teens competing in a national robotics competition. Lopez's recent work includes joining the DC Extended Universe in "Blue Beetle," featuring a predominantly Latino cast and focusing on a Mexican-American superhero.

Lopez has also voiced characters in films such as "Gnome Alone," "Escape from Planet Earth," the "Rio," "Smurfs," "Beverly Hills Chihuahua," and "Cats & Dogs" franchises.

As an author, Lopez's autobiography "Why You Crying?," co-written with Armen Keteyian, was a New York Times bestseller. His memoir "I’m Not Gonna Lie And Other Lies You Tell When You Turn 50" was published in 2007. He and Ryan Calejo co-authored the middle grade "Chupacarter" series, which delves into themes of friendship, belonging, and heritage.

Lopez co-founded The George Lopez Foundation, which focuses on assisting individuals dealing with chronic kidney conditions, a cause close to him as a kidney transplant recipient.
