Karen Eden Herdman is a rare 7th degree female martial arts Grandmaster (7 black belts.) She is the highest ranked multi-ethnic female in her art form of hand-to-hand combat that we are aware of today. Grandmaster Herdman has overcome many obstacles to achieve great accomplishments both in and out of the martial arts ring. Enduring poverty and coming from a broken and abusive home as a child, today you can find Grandmaster Herdman teaching and inspiring in the inner-cities of America.
She also travels to Native American tribal areas to teach self- defense for the cause of missing and murdered indigenous people. Recently Grandmaster Herdman has gained the attention of the White House, earning the “Presidents Volunteer Service Award” which states “by sharing your time and passion, you are helping to discover solutions to the challenges we face. On behalf of the American People, we extend our heartfelt appreciation.” Herdman has written 4 books and is a regular magazine columnist. She still teaches martial arts in South Carolina.
