Gregory Nava Biography
Gregory Nava is an American film director, screenwriter and producer. He attended film school at UCLA, and while he was a student there, he met Anna Thomas, herself a screenwriter and producer. He and Thomas married and went on to work on several projects together prior to their divorce in 2006. Those projects include 1983's "El Norte," 1977's "The Confessions of Amans," 1988's "A Time of Destiny," 1995's "My Family" and the screenplay for 2002's "Frida."
In 1996, Nava directed the film "Selena," which starred Jennifer Lopez. Nava's 2006 film, "Bordertown," also starred Lopez and was based on a true story, detailing a series of unsolved murders in Mexico.
