Guerline M. Jozef

Ms. Jozef dedicates her life to bring awareness to issues that affect us all locally and globally, including immigration, socioeconomic and racial justice, domestic violence, and child sexual abuse.

Ms. Jozef is the co-founder and executive director of the Haitian Bridge Alliance, which assists thousands of Haitian and other migrants who have endured a dangerous journey from their native countries to the U.S.-Mexico border via South America, crossing as many as 10 countries in search of a better life in the United States.

The Haitian Bridge Alliance’s mission is to guide, elevate and empower Haitian and other Black immigrants from the Caribbean and Africa through advocacy, organizing, outreach, direct services included but not limited to Immigration detention visits, transitional housing, legal assistance in partnership with various attorneys and legal providers, educational, social and cultural programs so that they may fully integrate into American society while maintaining their cultural heritage as they continue to navigate the complex immigration system in the United States.

Ms. Jozef created “Tales from the U.S.-MEXICO borderlands and Beyond,” an immigration information session focusing on Black immigrants at the borderlands and beyond. She is also a co-creator of "Faith in Action and Immigration Justice Movement" in Southern California, a four-part immigration program for both impacted communities and allies. Ms. Jozef uses her platform FYI (For Your Inspiration) Radio located in Mission Viejo with correspondents in Africa to give a voice to the voiceless coast to coast and around the world. Ms. Jozef also served as an advisory member to Voices against Violence in their efforts to prevent domestic violence in California and around the world. She was the chairwoman of Word and Action from 2013 to 2019, a non-profit organization that aims to prevent and decrease the occurrence of child sexual abuse.

Ms. Jozef’s tireless work has won her several awards, including the 2020 Champion of Justice Award from Immigrant Defenders, the 2020 Ferocious Advocate Award form Al Otro Lado, the 2019 Women's Suffrage Award from Women For: Orange County, the 2019 Champion of Justice Award from CARECEN; 2019 Community Resilience Award from the Resilience Orange County; the 2018 K.S Foundation Award; the 2018 Community Service Award from the Association of Haitian Professional; and the 2017 Women Recognition Award from the Military and Law Enforcement Veterans Association.
