As one of the most in-demand speakers in America, Harvey Alston's career has spanned various roles from head football coach at Columbus East High School in Ohio in 1968 to assistant director of student financial aid at the university level. As an educator, he has taught English, biology, health, life sciences, and math curricula. Over the years, Alston has received recognition and awards from entities such as the Ohio House of Representatives, which recognized him as one of Ohio’s finest citizens, and the City of Columbus, which declared a Harvey Alston Day. He was also commissioned a Kentucky Colonel and has received various national recognitions and awards from organizations including the Boy Scouts of America and the Lions and Kiwanis Clubs.

Harvey Alston's enterprise, Best Inc., is founded on his philosophy outlined in his book, "Be the Best." He serves as the coordinator for the Ohio High School Athletic Association Student Leadership Conferences, a contributing writer and photographer for the Highland Lakes Monthly Magazine, and a member of the National Speakers Association. Alston is actively involved as a member of the advisory board for the Olentangy School District and the Upper Valley Joint Vocational School, among other civic boards, panels, and commissions.
