Henrik Lundqvist

Henrik Lundqvist is a Swedish professional ice hockey goaltender who played his entire fifteen-season career for the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League. Before winning the Vezina Trophy in 2012 as the league's top goaltender, he was nominated in each of his first three seasons. Lundqvist is the only goaltender in NHL history to record ten 30-win seasons in his first 11 seasons, and he holds the record for most wins (459) and shutouts (64) by a goaltender in Rangers history. His exceptional performance during his rookie season earned him the nickname "King Henrik." The Rangers honored his contributions to the team by retiring his jersey upon his retirement.

In addition to his success on the ice, Lundqvist led the Swedish men's team to their second Olympic gold medal during the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy. Before joining the Rangers, he played for Frölunda HC in Swedish Elitserien, where he was recognized as the league's finest goaltender, winning the Honken Trophy three consecutive seasons; 2003, 2004, and 2005. In 2005, he also won two of the most prestigious awards in Swedish ice hockey, the Golden Puck and the Golden Helmet.

Beyond his athletic career, Lundqvist serves as a sports broadcaster with MSG Network and is deeply involved in philanthropy. He founded The Henrik Lundqvist Foundation, which focuses on health and education for children and families. His personal experiences with heart issues have made him a passionate advocate for health and heart issues, and he also served as the Rangers’ spokesperson for the Garden of Dreams Foundation. Lundqvist's dedication to both his sport and his community engagements showcases his leadership and commitment off the ice.
