Hill Harper

Hill Harper is a humanitarian, award-winning actor, bestselling author, and entrepreneur who gained widespread recognition for his role as Dr. Sheldon Hawkes on the hit CBS series "CSI: NY" and more recently, for his portrayal of Dr. Marcus Andrews on ABC's "The Good Doctor." Harper’s acting career spans over two decades, with notable appearances in films like "He Got Game," "Lackawanna Blues," and "The Skulls." He has also been featured in "Concussion," "All Eyez on Me," and "A Sun Is Also A Star."

Additionally, Harper has authored several books that focus on self-empowerment and personal growth, including "Letters to a Young Brother," which won the American Library Association’s Best Book for Young Adults award, and "The Wealth Cure: Putting Money in Its Place," where he shares financial advice for achieving economic independence. His literary works also include "Letters to a Young Sister," "Letters to an Incarcerated Brother," and "The Conversation," all aimed at inspiring individuals to overcome obstacles and pursue their dreams with confidence and determination. Harper has been recognized with seven NAACP Image Awards for his writing and acting.

As an investor and business owner, Harper owns a successful coffee franchise in downtown Detroit called The Roasting Plant; is co-owner of A-Frame Brands and the award-winning New Orleans hotel, International House; and owns several commercial and residential rental properties. His entrepreneurial ventures extend to his involvement with LOVED01, John Legend’s skincare brand, and The Architect & Co., a health and wellness company. His passion for economic empowerment, financial literacy, job creation, and social justice keeps him as an in-demand thought leading consultant for public and private institutions. Harper ran in the Democratic primary for the 2024 United States Senate election in Michigan, centering his campaign on key issues such as healthcare reform, economic equity, and criminal justice reform.

Harper graduated magna cum laude from Brown University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and was named valedictorian of his department. He graduated with a JD (cum laude) from Harvard Law School, as well as with a master’s degree in public administration, with honors, from the Kennedy School of Government. He holds honorary doctoral degrees from a range of institutions including Howard University, Winston-Salem State University, Cheyney University, Le-Moyne Owen College, Westfield State College, Dillard University, Philander Smith College, and Tougaloo College. He is a proud Life Member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and in 2004 and 2014, was named one of the Sexiest Men Alive by People Magazine.
