Houston Nutt

Houston Nutt, a former football player and coach, began his broadcasting career in 2012 when he joined CBS Sports Network as a college football studio analyst. Prior to his transition to broadcasting, Nutt had a 19-season career as a college football coach with a cumulative record of 135–96. His coaching journey encompassed stints at Murray State, Boise State, the University of Arkansas, and the University of Mississippi.

During his tenure at Arkansas, Nutt led the Razorbacks to a total of seven bowl games and three Southeastern Conference Western Division titles, averaging over seven wins per season. Nutt was named National Coach of the Year and The Football News Division 1-A Coach of the Year in 1998. His coaching skills were further recognized with his selection as SEC Coach of the Year in 2001, 2006, and 2008. In his role as head coach for the Ole Miss Rebels from 2008 to 2011, Nutt guided the team to successive Cotton Bowl victories in 2009 and 2010.

Before his successful stints at Arkansas and Ole Miss, Nutt commenced his collegiate head coaching career at Murray State University in 1993. He led the Racers to an impressive 11-1 record in 1995, earning him Ohio Valley Conference Coach of the Year and the Eddie Robinson National Division I-AA Coach of the Year Award. Nutt then took on the role of head coach at Boise State University for one season, which marked the team’s inaugural season as a member of NCAA Division 1-A. Despite the team consisting of Division I-AA players, Nutt led them to a 5-6 record.

As a former player, Nutt started his collegiate playing career at the University of Arkansas before transferring to Oklahoma State University. He played as a quarterback from 1979-81 and was also a member of the basketball team. Nutt completed his bachelor’s degree in physical education from Oklahoma State in 1981. He and his wife Diana are the proud parents of four children: Houston III, twins Hailey and Hanna, and Haven.
