James Acaster

James Acaster began his career in stand-up comedy, presenting his first solo show "Amongst Other Things" at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2011. With a unique comedic style, Acaster quickly gained recognition, receiving five consecutive nominations for the Edinburgh Comedy Award for Best Comedy Show from 2012 to 2016. His shows "Recognise" (2014), "Represent" (2015), "Reset" (2016), and "Recap" (2017) were later released as a serialized Netflix stand-up comedy special titled "Repertoire," making Acaster the first British comic to have multiple stand-up routines released on Netflix. His stand-up special "Cold Lasagne Hate Myself 1999" also received critical acclaim, winning him a Melbourne International Comedy Festival Award and a Chortle Award.

Beyond his success in stand-up comedy, Acaster ventured into the world of podcasts and television. He co-hosts the food podcast "Off Menu" with Ed Gamble, which began in December 2018 and has received several award nominations. Acaster also co-hosted the panel show "Hypothetical" with Josh Widdicombe from 2019 to 2022, and made frequent appearances on British panel shows such as "Mock the Week," "Would I Lie to You?," "8 Out of 10 Cats," "Have I Got News For You," and "The Dog Ate My Homework." He starred in series 7 of "Taskmaster" in 2018, where his performance was voted to include the funniest moment of the show in a Radio Times readers' poll in 2022.

In addition to his work in comedy, Acaster has authored several books that have all become Sunday Times bestsellers: "Classic Scrapes," "Perfect Sound Whatever," and "Guide to Quitting Social Media." He also formed the music collective Temps, which released its debut album "Party Gator Purgatory" in May 2023. On the big screen, he appeared as Lars Pinfield in the movie "Ghostbusters Frozen Empire." Acaster's diverse range of activities and achievements showcases his creativity and adaptability, marking him as a versatile presence in the entertainment industry.
